Goal Limits

Beginning with the Spring 2009 season, there are no goal limits on the field of play nor in the standings.

Prior to the Spring 2009 season, regardless of how many goals were scored during a game, a maximum of five (5) goals per game was tallied in the standings. For example, a team won 8-6. The winning team collected the three points for the victory and the game was officially scored as an 8-6 win. However, the standings reflected a 5-5 score with a goal differential of zero. This is no longer the case.

This five-goal limit was installed to prevent teams from running up the score to gain/ensure places in the standings. While it didn't seem to work on the field, this limit was effective with respect to the standings and helped ensure that titles as well as promotions/relegations were not decided until late in the season. HASL has decided to lift this limitation and allow the standings to reflect exactly the scoring on the field.
